Re: The best Transhuman scii-fi novels?
Hello,
I definitely mined these and put them on my to-read list on Good Reads, thanks! I think the later books of the Draka series were transhumanism: Stone Dogs and Drakon (by S. M. Stirling). Also, there is a list on Wikipedia.

Re: The best Transhuman scii-fi novels?
Bruce Sterling wrote a bunch of short stories in a transhuman setting, his "Shaper/Mechanist" universe. They were collected into a book "Crystal Express" and later combined with a novel in the same universe as the book "Schismatrix Plus"
Since most of the action takes place in space rather than Earth, good for ideas about the Deep Beyond. |

Re: The best Transhuman scii-fi novels?
Elizabeth Moon's series that began with Trading in Danger is transhumanist in a low-key way: The heroine comes from a society where implants and minor upgrades are taken for granted. In fact, one sequence has her saving a group of refugees with implants from a nasty bunch of fantastic racists who despise anyone with implants.

Generally referred to as Vatta's War. I read it and was quite satisfied.

Yes, that's right. I could not dredge the series title out of my brain early in the morning. . . .

Re: The best Transhuman scii-fi novels?
I just finished writing a short story in a setting specifically inspired by Transhuman Space. It's my own setting based on my own research into Transhumanism, but the similarities are obvious. I'm also planning a murder mystery and I'm working on fixing up an old story of mine to fit in the same setting, too.
It's basically a Hallmark Christmas romance, but it takes place in 2115 and includes elements like mind emulation, biological androids, implanted AIs, full sensory "stims" and take on sensationalist infotainment "journalism." I really liked the game seed in one of the books that suggested everyday life would be so weird in the future that even a "slice of life" story like a sitcom would be interesting. For lack of a better title (because I suck at titles) it's called Christmas in Aspen, 2115.
