So e23 has been selling 0one's Dungeon of Terror series and most recently the collected 'boxed-set' without the box. I was considering picking some or all of them up for a DF campaign and wanted to see if the collective had any opinions, advise, cautionary tales, etc.
Anyone already pick any of them up? If so, what did you think? Quality? Did they work well? Art? Are they worth $2 each? Is the collection worth $20? Am I better off buy a big hex wet-erase matt and markers? -Dan |

I've picked up a couple of Oone's maps. Overall I've liked them and think they're well worth the few dollars they cost for a pregen map. Many of the maps have a choice between Square and Hex grid overlays (some have only Square though, which has stopped me from buying a few others - well, that and the fact I really haven't been gaming much lately). Most of them have options to to add or hide different overlays (secret doors, grids, etc.), reposition the compass, or do various other tweaks. Of course with all of those features you'll probably need the most up to date version of Acrobat and a decent system (1Ghz speed range, 256mb RAM), because redraws of the screens with all the different overlays can be a little slow (IOW they don't work on my handheld running Linux, but I don't need them to).

Both the Caves of Chaos and it's a pretty cool map for a 2$ product. I would have certainly paid 5$ though to it converted to a fully detailed module though ! My GM prep time isn't much and buying an "empty" map (the rooms do have titles in them) was helpful but not enough for me.

But now I have to figure out why the "boxed set" is ~$20, but the 8 individual maps are ~$2 each. I may be missing it from the descriptions, but I'm not sure what extra there is in the boxed set that is worth the additional ~$4. -Dan |

I haven't figured what to put in the extra rooms yet, but I don't think it will be too much of a problem. -Dan |

I bought the Haunted Mansion map, and I really liked it. The maps provide a framework for your own location based adventure. It would be pretty easy to come up with a basic bestiary and populate a dungeon using some general randomness.

If you're looking to check out his stuff I just noticed that there are three 0one Suppliments available for free. The first, Medusa's hideout, will give you a good idea of what to expect from their maps.

Other than reading through the individual descriptions, is there a way to figure out which ones offer the hex overlay? Maybe a list of those that have it somewhere?

Unfortunately not even the descriptions on the e23 website seem particularly helpful.
