Just out of curiosity, what's your favorite weapon, and why? When I first got the pocket box version, I had a thing for RR's, as I felt they gave me a decent balance of damage and accuracy, vs. cost/space. But, one of my friends picked up Autoduel Champions, and VMGs soon replaced them.

RRs -- good TH, low cost, decent weight, and the option of HESH or HEAT depending on what sorts of designs your opponent uses. My sub-Div.-40 designs use RRs exclusively. BC -- same pluses as RRs (we allowed BC-HEAT, as it's actually a *weaker* load than ATG-Sabot*); exchanges higher cost for lower weight than twin RRs. MG -- still viable at lower divisions, and two of them are fair competition for a VMG. Defense: SD -- with the advent of Explosive and Incendiary Spikes, the perfect tool for surface-area-denial.

I am not very experienced, only few games at the moment and you can count them on the fingers of two hands.
Anyway I love spectacle and big booms, so for now I only use rockets, mostly guided for offense. For defense smoke and smoke. |

VMGs and MDs
VMGs : Low cost for a 'to hit' of 6. Lots of ammo. And a variety of ammo types ... a little heavy, but that's not a problem if the other guy is dead fast or from farther away. (Compared to a Medium laser, the VMG is half the cost for the same accuracy and damage). MDs : Two words. RADIO-DETONATED. A variety of mine types and absolute control over when/ if they go >boom<. Can even be a purely defensive weapon with the chemical loads (smoke, paint, hot smoke). And I get giddy when I combine NAPALM mines with opponents who don't fire-proof thier tires cause it's too expensive. |

Well defensive wise, I used to love me some mine droppers, but then uncle all gave me a whole lot of options for the lowly Spike Dropper (especially explosive spikes). I also really like FOJ, namely because I'm a fire bug, but they also create smoke clouds, a decent hazard, and and have chance to set the guy on fire.

I love surprises. With the advent of Uncle Al's Catalog From Hell, I unleashed one on Div10...
I called it the Scorpion - a compact car with a turret. Now, everyone was thinking "compact with a turret? Loser!" - not me. That turret had a HMG packing HD ammo (single space weapon, 2d damage total) and 5 points of metal armour on 5 sides (plus plastic underneath). Yes, it's a heavy weapon - but it does the same as a VMG and is half the size! Last edited by panaikhan; 11-12-2009 at 08:23 AM. Reason: clarification |

I like the flamethrower...
Cheap. Accurate. Fun. Effective. Even makes a smoke cloud. YMMV depending on with incendiary rules set you're using. |

There was one memorable duel "back in the day" in which my friends finally got sick of me winning all the time so four of 'em decided to gang up on me. I was using RLs with laser-guided incendiary rockets, and none of 'em had bothered to fireproof their car or equip an extinguisher. It will always be my favorite weapon ;)

For an entire year I "hid"* the same weapon on all my vehicles: a Flame Cloud Gas Streamer. People really hated it. Even more, they hated my dice that liked to roll 3s!
* Because after the third or fourth time you reveal the same weapon under blow-through concealment it's not much of a surprise. Didn't stop Brian and I from going through the routine** each and every time. We even did it at the Worlds that year. :) ** If you ever watched wrestling, it was like the entrances where the wrestler grabbed a mike and rattled off a catchphrase before their match/talking segment.*** *** Yeah, you kinda had to be there.
