Tried searching for this but did not come up with anything.
I was about to kill a monster and win the game and then another player cursed me so that I would lose two levels. Is this allowed? We looked at the rules and it states that only cards that say "one shot only" or GUAL cards can be used. Would the curse count as one shot only? |

Curses may be played at absolutely any time. See "Curses" on p. 4 of the rules.

There is a minor timing issue there as well.
If you were winning, then waited till anyone did anything and he threw down the Curse before you were able to declare victory...then yes; that's allowed. If you had waited for any one to do anything and they didn't and you declared victory and THEN the Curse was played, then it takes no effect. Yes you can play a Curse at anytime but not when the game is over.

I disagree with you, StaticHamster. There's no such "unless the game is over" clauses in the rulebook. Curses may be played at any time, period.
Of course, it doesn't change the fact that the game is over and he won, though. ;) *is a pedant* |

So you want people to play curses after people went home or a week later? I agree with StaticHamster that you can't do anything after the game is over. The rules don't have to say so because they cease to have meaning the moment the game is over and they say that the game is over...

Agreed. Playing a curse after the game is over is pointless. It might make you feel better, but it has no real meaning in the game. Actually, if it makes you feel better, I have to wonder about the kind of player you are. . . Hmmmm. . .

I think the AT ANY TIME clause makes it clear that one does not have to be "in the game" to play a curse.
Personally, I prefer playing curses on other players before the game starts. I also have been known to play "Duck of Doom" on some of my more troublesome students and the occasional functionary at the DMV. |

The original GAME question has been answered, and as the discussion has gone beyond the GAME into the realm of The Silly, I'm closing the thread.
