In ancient times it was rumored that a wicked Mage stole great treasures from the kingdoms he conquered. Later, he built a fortress and ruled the surrounding lands with an iron fist but as he aged, his power waned. So in order to hold onto his great treasure, he decided to build a dungeon below his fortress to hide his treasure and then he gathered baby animals to guard it.
The Adventure: The PCs have found a map that leads to the ruins of the wicked Mage’s fortress. There are partial walls and stone blocks scattered about. A successful Per roll will reveal a stone staircase leading down below the fortress ruins. If the characters go down the stairs, they will notice that the air grows cooler and damper. Spider webs hang from the ceiling and dust covers the stairs. The stairs descend 100 feet and then lead into a 20 by 20 room with a high vaulted ceiling obscured by cobwebs. There are three doors leading in all directions but they are made of iron bound wood and all locked. In the center of the room is an open treasure chest filled with glittering gold (56 pieces), sparkling silver (274 pieces), and bright copper (566 pieces). There is a potion flask (Giant Strength, adds +15 ST for 10 to 60 minutes), a magic sword (+2 puissance) and three brightly colored gems(500 gold piece value each). Very quickly the characters will hear gentle peeping and then a baby chick will begin to come towards the party trying to protect the treasure. This power forces a Contest of Skills between the characters Will and the baby chick’s Cuteness of 20. If the baby chick wins then the character will feel that the baby chick is too cute to kill and will end up playing with it and feeding it seeds instead. To be continued… |

I'm sold. But what sorcery could possibly grant a creature life immortal? This is most troubling.

Well, you can always adjust the Cuteness to your party's Will level. Meanwhile, I like it, I'm still laughing. :D

I used something like this once in an anime-themed game about a decade or so back. I called it the "Kawaii Attack". Proved to be very popular with the players, especially in their vocalizations ...
"MY TEETH ARE ROTTING!" "MY CYNICAL SOUL CAN'T TAKE IT!" "ARGH! MY DIABETES!"

Also, the kitties (if the PCs survive long enough to see them) have Cosmic shotguns. Last edited by Xplo; 10-31-2009 at 11:39 AM. |
