Why do people like them? What makes them fun? Any good scenarios?
I think I may want to take my duelling out on the road to mix it up. Just trying to come up with some scenarios. |

Some of the most fun Earlburt and I had was doing road duels. In Convoy, Earlburt split up his cars... the van to salvage a laser and the rest to finish the adventure. I had his van play in a Pack Attack scenario in order to keep the laser. Really cool. Another time, Earlburt had a character walking out of an arena to see a black van back into his car and drive off. He was very offended by this and went after it. He failed to take it out, but still... it was pure CAR WARS. Road Dueling as a plain scenario: "meh" Road Dueling combined with light role playing: "awesome" |

Anyway, yeah, road action to add flavor to an ongoing campaign is the way to go. If you do use any of the pre-made scenarios I suggest modifying them heavily. For one, some background story for why these characters are being offered this job would be good. And the rewards need to be scaled down big time, to keep players hungry. With luck, I'll be running an arena duel in Texarcana this coming weekend. On the road home after the duel, the players may have a road encounter that none of them expect (except Jeff, who will just have learned of it, but will keep quiet nonetheless). |

Just remembered one from GenCon:
There were three teams in the game: a corporation transporting a new "wonder weapon" to a secret location, a road gang out for salvage (didn't know what was aboard but did not want to destroy any potential valuable cargo), and a government helicopter out to destroy the cargo. The GM had made the teams such that there really needed to be cooperation to succeed with your team's mission - the government needed the road gang to "soften" up the corporation as it would be easier to destroy the truck carrying the weapon, the road gang had to team up with the corporation to destroy the helicopter to prevent the weapon's destruction, and the corporation had to pit the road gang against the government in order to survive. I recall that it turned out really well and in the end, the corporation managed to squeak out a victory. |

I like the way C&C deals with internal damage, and how some shots will just pass right through the vehicle. Does DT differ from ADQ 1-3 on that score? |
