Default Car Wars Technology History

Hi everybody!

Some time ago, Guy Fullerton wrote an article on when each weapon was invented, together with an analysis of the weapon itself.
Very useful.

I just added another 24 weapons from the Car Wars Compendium (2nd Ed) to my CarDesigner, meaning I now finally have every weapon from there (up to 2039, anyway).
Mind you, I haven't uploaded the latest version yet - still busy creating the weapon images for the layout, and adding some import functionality.

Going through all 10 years of ADQ, I found that his weapon list is not quiter correct, and didn't contain everything added. Thus here's my list - including a bunch of stuff at the very beginning, whose origin year I'm not sure of. Anything missing?

Any neat analytical comments per weapon would be very welcome, and could be added into the program :-)

Just updated the list - thanks, Parody!

kjamma4: are you sure you'd want technology to continue like it did? Perhaps I'm just Yet Another Old Fart, but I like the original game very much, while the weapon development over the later years got rather out of hand, overdoing things by quite a bit...

I must admit to even oogling Mini Car Wars... ;)

No, my comment was not so much the lack of technology continuing as to lack of SJG involvement with CW continuing. :(

I don't have copies of Combat Showcase or Uncle Al's 2038 Calendar, but a few gadgets did debut in them. I'm pretty sure the X-Ray Laser is from the calendar.

Which, now that the Compendium is available on e23, might be a good candidate for reissue either for free or cheap (I believe original cost was $1) to "whet" the appetite of those who are on the fence about the Compendium.

Didn't the X-Ray laser first appear in a story in one of the ADQs, featuring duellists with super powers?
