Best issue to date for me:
Gecko tech - cute, and a nice replacement for velcro;
Paper cells - cool, another power system;
tracking cards - nice idea;
Psi imbuements - Shiny;
No Market... - yes indeedy;
Toys - cute;
Gheap - nice one.

I really like Psi Imbuements but I can't figure out what all the armour variations actually represent in game mechanic terms. The obvious uses are for reducing armour divisors, blunting weapons and increasing crushing protection but which ones are which and what are the others?
Are they all derived from the original Imbuements or are there some more out there?

At the beginning of Power Lists, it states that all the Imbuements with a * are from Perfect Defense (Pyramid #3/4). If you don't have that issue, just ignore them. (Or buy the issue, of course -- and if you like Imbuements, that article alone makes #3/4 a must-have. Seriously.)

I concur with the Rev here. If you like Imbuements, then you should get Pyramid 3.4, just for that article. It's worth the cover money, and you get other goodies with it

Well, I have a minor nit with the Shleter Pack in Dedman's article. It's made of bioplastic and has solar painted added to it? Bioplastic IS a solar cell material sayeth UT.179 and Solar paint comes with a restriction bioplastic does not have. Solar paint is only 50% as effective as normal solar cells.

Apparently the manufacturers are spending additional money on the product to make it inferior. ;)

Ah, Pyramid 3-4, Battlefield Magic. Mea Culpe. I had feeling it was out there somewhere and I'd either not read it yet or forgotten I'd read it. I'll have to up my rating of 3-4:)

Thanks guys.

I really like the "solar backup" option and will incorporate it into must stuff my characters use... Do you think you can implement it in rechargeable power cells (concerning area, still fitting into devices...) or do you need an actual power using device for this?

I originally had more complex rules for solar backups, but it was too complex. So, the simple version:
Solar backups are a trickle-charger for gadgets. Since they run off the sun, you don't need to do anything other than stand outside in daylight. They'll mostly be built into gear for survey scouts, guerrillas, frontier homesteaders, etc.

It's basically a way for the GM to hand-wave away the situation of "Our vapor canteen ran out of power 3 days ago. Are we going to die?" By saying that the canteen's power cell gets topped off constantly, they can ignore the actual duration of the power cells, and just say that having the canteen is good enough.
OTOH, not having the solar backups means the GM is free to maliciously say, "Oops, your canteen ran out of power, so you're going to die of thirst pretty soon! Maybe you should have bought real frontier gear instead of that camping-lite stuff." Evil, but the option is there for making "We need power" to be a serious source of drama (Firefly springs to mind).

Now, can you put them on non-power-using things? Well, you can, but they're not really backups, then - they're just extra small solar film.
