Honestly not sure beyond 'longer definitions without going overboard.'

There's currently a tie, having two votes each for Chain of Astarte and Blazing Lights of Utuho. Poll remains open, if anyone else wants to vote. I'll probably break the tie some time tomorrow if it's still there by then.

Chain of Astarte Question I

What sort of government does the Chain of Astarte have? Note that the options may be combined (e.g. '4 and 7' would be a feudal representative democracy, or '6 and 8' a corporate theocracy).

1. Technocracy

2. Oligarchy

3. Dictatorship

4. Representative democracy

5. Athenian democracy (probably via the internet)

6. Corporate state

7. Feudal (probably in combination with something else)

8. Theocracy

9. Clan/tribal

10. Caste (probably in combination with something else)

11. No culture-wide government

12. Something else (please specify).

Please remember to include the number(s) of your preferred option(s) when you vote.

(In case anyone doesn't know or isn't sure, an absolute monarchy is a dictatorship, but a constitutional monarchy could be just about anything, depending on how much power the constitution gives the monarch, and how the rest of the political power is arranged or accessed. Likewise, an oligarchy might well be some sort of meritocracy, or be combined with a technocracy; it's not necessarily a military junta or group of senior aristocrats.)

*******

Answer: 6 & 7 (Feudal corporate state, outgrowth of a restaurant chain) has three votes, and wins; 1, 8, and 5 & 12 have one vote each.

From the SF that inspires most Atompunk, Technocracy is the clear favorite.

6 and 7. It's an outgrowth of a restaurant chain.

While not a standard choice, a race who are fighting "False Gods" might just adapt a agnostic or atheistic world-view.

In the void left by the gods, they would contemplate their own nature and place in the universe, which could touch all parts of their life including government.

It could be an egalitarian society where every member has worth and a voice.

These things are not intrinsically related to form of Government except as they exclude Theocracy.

.....and of course, somebody fighting one Theocracy might set up another -Theocracy to fight them.

Of the other choices of Government form many are easily compatible with religion and a few would be odd bedfellows with it but generally I would rate Religion as a Cultural question rather than a governmental one.

This is also fine.

#8, A Theocracy would be interesting.
