We've had an argument recently. My opponent faced a monster. I played Undead enhancer on the latter and then I cursed the player with Necrophobia.
He started telling me that it doesn't count because the monster he faced was not undead initially. I told him that he's wrong because he is now being faced with an undead monster. Who's right? |

Necrophobia triggers at any moment you face an Undead monster, whether you found an Undead when you kicked open a door, had someone wander an Undead monster into your fight, or turn an ordinary monster Undead in the normal course of making the other munchkins' lives difficult.

Curse! Necrophobia describes two different situations.
Someone who is a helper (in other words, joined in the combat to help the player whose turn it is) and has Curse! Necrophobia on them MUST leave the combat if an Undead Monster becomes part of the combat. They do this with no restrictions, they don't have to Run Away, they just stop helping the other player. However, if the player whose turn it is has Curse! Necrophobia on them, they must Run Away immediately from all the Monsters if one of them is Undead. |

We had the following situation:
Munchkin 1 was in a fight with an undead and was going to win the battle. Munchkin 2 played Necrophobia curse on Munchkin 1. In the localization of our game the Necrophobia card says: "If an Undead appears in a fight, you must flee automatically even if you could beat the monster." Munchkin 1 argues that he must not flee from this fight, since the monster didn't appear and was already in a battle. Should Munchkin 1 run from the undead in this fight or only from future undead monsters (when they appear behind the doors or when other players throw undead monsters into the battle) ? |

As we said earlier in the thread (and nine years ago - that's some serious necromancy!), Necrophobia affects you whenever you are facing an Undead monster. Whether you were already necrophobic when the monster arrived or the necrophobia was put into play after the fight had begun is irrelevant; if you have Necrophobia and you are fighting one or more Undead monsters on your turn, you must Run Away.
