If cloaks got extra DR against crushing I would probably say it was flexible DR so that even if it wasn't damaged, some could get through and hurt your arm.
Yep cloaks are given the entangling aspect in TG

The key difference between a block and a parry is that a block works against low velocity missile weapons (thrown, bows, slings, but not guns). Nothing you would have been taught is a block in GURPS terms.

Wow, that is an definition considering the skill Parry Missile Weapons.

A Block in GURPS is: "A “block” is an attempt to interpose a shield, cloak, or similar large object between yourself and an attack."

A Parry in GURPS is: "A “parry” is an attempt to deflect a blow using a weapon or your bare hands."

Which has to be specially trained and requires a different skill. The other definition is that a parry uses a weapon, in which case again you can't block with a foil because that's not how blocking is defined.

I just realized... If you can use shields or cloaks to grapple enemies, shouldn't there be a "Grabbing Block" technique and "Escaping Block" and an "Aggressive Block" too?

Sounds totally acceptable.

Yeah that's kind of my point in GURPS terms maybe, but in reality there is no such hard and fast distinction (although some things are obviously harder to do)

Just as I'm sure have you have knocked aside something thrown at you bare handed even though in GURPS terms, you couldn't because you didn't use a shield or a cloak?

You can parry thrown weapons see "Parrying Thrown Weapons" in B376.

I did wonder!

But either way my point is still in reality this is all on a continuum, especially unusual stuff like cloaks.
