Default Skill to balance books on sword?

Just saw Quackfaster do this in DuckTales episode 4. She obviously must have Parry Missile Weapons as she is able to use Grabbing Parry against objects thrown to attack her. Since you need a hand free to keep doing that, rather than drop on floor she balanced them on a sword in the other hand.

That could be pretty useful with someone throwing shuriken at you, or any other flat objects. Not sure what skills there are for balancing stacks of things while running/parrying though.

From this description, in the sort of cinematic setting it's even possible, the balancing is probably a Shtick - cool looking but basically useless visual gags typically are.

For the more realistic version of moving around while balancing stuff in a way that looks sufficiently "impossible" to impress people, I'd probably go with a DX based Feats of Strength roll - I use that a lot for carnival trick type things. If you have a Performance (Juggling) skill in your game, that's a good option too.

It seems like an application for a combat Art skill.

Maybe this is "contact juggling"?

I was hoping for some sort of creative application of Sword! to do accounting.

Obviously you remove the binding, throw the pages into the air and thrust your sword into the cloud, aiming for the entries that are in error.

Actually, now I wonder how you *would* build a sword based divination ability.

Balancing stuff is actually a normal part of juggling acts - the usual version is balancing something on your chin while juggling stuff with your hands - which looks harder for not being able move your head to see what you are juggling.

Sortilege (Magic, p108-9). Throw some pages of writing into the air, stab into them, and interpret the words indicated by the damage to the pages.
