Hi there,

Stg. Leonidas reporting from Italy.

I am playing the hell out of OGRE, both solo and with some victims of my gaming group. I am introducing them to the basic scenario, and then I schedule a session for a mirror match GEV game.

People are really loving the gameplay and the overall fairness of the mechanics. I even managed to have a couple of games with my older brother (he is 47 years old, I am 44 actually). I understand that someone might inquire as to why I am so obsessed with this game. I am available to send private answers, if any.

Anyway, my friends are still not making the big jump. So, I will try to overrun them as the Miniature Set 1 knocks at my door. I ordered one set with standard colours and another one with reversed colours (for disable/damaged purposes).

Meanwhile, I sent them a couple of unboxing video about Pocket Ed (which arrived yesterday) and ODE ed. I also want to make a comparison video between the classic counters vs modern ones. It will be hilarious.

The game is amazing.

Thanks everyone for making this thing happening.

End of line.

Nobody here is likely to question an obsession with Ogre ;-)

Who knows? Maybe I wll find sone answers in the digital version of the Ogre Book, I bought last week.

That work is simply pure excellence. I am still studying, but I am glad I was using almost the same solo rules I found there.

I have to try the BBG zilla this summer and report!

I am going to keep this thread as an update of what is happening in Italy as to Ogre. As of today, Ogre invaded just my house, but I hope that it will invade Italy as well.

Anyway, while waiting for the BGG-Zilla to unleash his smashing fury against a Paneuropean army this summer (I ordered some Nihon sheets which would be perfect for that purpose), I finally got the Classic Counters.

In the package I found some promo Munchkin cards and a Munchkin pin as free gifts!

Many thanks SJG.

End of line.

Update:

Two sheets of Nihon Army have just arrived.

I am going to playtest the BGG-zilla rules. I am going to use this setting.

a) Ufo Crash lands on a lake, using GEV Maps.
b) BGG-Zilla emerges from the water and will head towards a Reactor or the Mobile Command post.
c) Reactor heals the BGG-Zilla.
d) the scenario ends with the death of the BGG-Zilla or the destruction of the Command post.

I still have to decide the size of the defending force.

I will let you know what will happen...the water is bubbling....

Leonidas.

End of line.

Hi,

Leonidas reporting.

Yesterday, I played the basic Mk III scenario with my father. He is 79 years old.
I was like 'Dad this is a game from 1977? (I was 6 then) Wanna try?" I hepled him in sone crucial moments but he toasted my Paneuropean defense. The best moments occurred when he realized the potential destructiveness of the Ogre. I will always remember the glimpse in his eyes and his badly hidden enthusiasm when he was rolling the die and obliterating armors.

My father is a retired communication engineer and has been a former director of the Italian Space Agency. He also wrote a very sofisticated bidding system for Bridge (the card game). It was so funny to make him play Ogre. He enjoyed the game more than he is likely to admit, I am pretty sure about it.

Leonidas out

End of line

A great report Leonidas, well done for getting your father to play.

Keep up the good work, and maybe it's worth compiling a list of games shops in Italy? Perhaps local shops near where you live first?

Yes, well done!

I like the way you suggest having the reactor and BGG-saurus interact. Makes perfect sense!

Respect to your father for his service to our future in space.
