Default Is their a time limit to defeat a monster?

My friend and I love to Munchkin, however he does this "rule" where you only have so much time to add on to the monster. Also he said you can not apply more than two monsters. Am I right for calling.

Second question first: if you have the right cards, you can add as many monsters as you want. (But you have to have the cards; you can't just add any monsters you feel like.)

First question: the rules say that a player who is winning a fight must allow the other players a "reasonable time" to respond. This means that the winning player can't declare victory and immediately go up levels and start drawing Treasures; he has to give everyone else a chance to look at the situation and decide whether and how to respond. It also means that he isn't required to wait more than a few seconds after letting everyone know he has won, in case the other players are being indecisive or waiting for someone else to step up. A slow three count ("I'm winning, does anyone want to stop me?...one...two...three. OK, I win.") would be appropriate here.

I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that the game owner is applying a house rule in this situation. As Andrew had pointed out, that is not how the rules are written, and if you're playing a game with your own copy, you can certainly choose how you want to play.
