Rules governing bookmarks
Where can I find the rules governing the use of bookmarks?
Last year at Connecticon I brought all my bookmarks and had them on the table. Near the end of the game I went to use one and was told by the MiB in charge that I couldn't because having more than one bookmark on the table is cheating. Note this was not a special tournament rule - this was his interpretion/understanding of the rules governing bookmark use. I likely would have won the battle (and thus the tournament) had I been permitted to use my bookmark. I would like to avoid a repeat of this in the future by being able to show an official ruling. Thank you for your assistance. |

Re: Rules governing bookmarks
Perhaps it was his interpretation of the Tournament Rules (available free here). Standard tournament rules say you may use only one of any given type of promotional item. That does not mean they can have only one on the table, nor does it mean they can only use one promotional item, just that you can't use two bookmarks (normally not legal anyway), or two cards, etc. Under the Plus One rule, no one can use more than one more than the lowest at the table. So, if at least one player had no promotional items, then the limit would be one, but even still, you can have as many as you want on the table, you can just use only one.
So, if the tournament coordinator hadn't stated any specific promo limiting style, then the standard is to be assumed. Beyond that, without any other information about the tournament, I can't provide any further information. Last edited by MunchkinMan; 12-18-2015 at 05:56 AM. |

Re: Rules governing bookmarks
So the 'one item only' rule is in effect even after changing sex?

Re: Rules governing bookmarks
Any special tournament rules (such as "only one promo") supersede the rules as written on the promo items.
