Death Mask

Hi , I have one question about "Death Mask" ( Munchkin Legends ) :

Can i use the ability to remove an undead monster , discarding "Death Mask" if im carry it ( equipped but not in use ) ?

I too want to know the answer to this question: if a item had an ability that trigger if discarded, the item must by equipped or is enought if it is in play and not equipped?

Unless the card says otherwise, an Item must be equipped to use any of its abilities.

Thanks Andrew , i would like to add a question. If i have equipped "Death Mask" and another player is fighting against an undead monster , can i discard "Death Mask" to discard the undead monster ?
I think no , but my friend think yes

I am making an official erratum so the text says what I intended. Change the first sentence to read: "The Death Mask may be discarded to remove an Undead monster that you are fighting from combat."
