Default Munchkin Retirement home

With such exiting and plentiful 2014 years for the Munchkin Universe, I almost forgot about the announcement that Mr. Jackson gave us in the 2012 report; “we will let some of the slower-moving Munchkin core sets go out of print for a few months at a time.” I was wondering which Munchkin cores will gracefully take its leave from us and retire?

That's a 2-year old report, and retire seems a severe word choice. Furlough seems more reasonable. I know that Munchkin Fu was one, but it's getting a reprint soon, I hear. . .

Fu and Impossible have been out of print for a while, but they'll be coming back this summer. We have some other candidates, but they're still in stock now, although moving slowly (which is WHY they're on the list), so I don't plan to name them at present.

Note that some *expansions* are also on this list, in some cases even if we plan to keep the core games in print.

Sounds like the Head office need more storage space!
Well I hope that my beloved Munchkin Cthulhu and all its extensions are still all faring well. Probably, since the heath board is coming out. :)

It's not a matter of storage space. Our minimum print runs are high enough that if we don't expect to sell that many sets in a reasonable time, it's better to let the game go out of print for a while, to let demand pick back up, or just let it go forever. Inventory taxes are killer, and there's also opportunity cost to consider -- money and time spent on reprints is money and time NOT spent on new products, and if it's a choice between a marginal reprint and a new product we expect to be a strong seller, the reprint is likely to lose.

So is there going to be an announcement of which expansions will be let go out of print soon? Just wanting to know, so I can add the ones that will, to the top of my list of things to get.

Thank you for chairing some of your management knowledge. :)

I'd be looking for Bites 2, Super 2, and Good/Bad 2. And, as always, any booster you want, you should pick up sooner rather than later. (The only remaining copies of Space Ships, for instance, are the ones going in the Triple Play packs. And Dragons is running very low at our primary warehouse.)

oh wow... sooooo happy i went with bites 2 and super 2 (have the main, but was procrastinating the expansions)..

on the other hand, wish i knew this yesterday/few hours ago, i just got the email that my 5 expansions shipped and did not went with Dragons, even though this one was pretty affordable (me and my silly limit of "will only choose 5"... lol) oh well.

I ll keep it in mind :)
