Default Playing the Trojan Horse on a lvl 9/10

Afternoon Ladies and Gents. We were playing this afternoon and a really great card play come about. My daughter was going to easily defeat a monster on her own. After doing so, she was ready to draw a treasure card. Now, my husband played the Trojan Horse and another monster that was not so easily defeated in hopes of keeping her from winning the game as she would be level 10 after defeating the first monster.

I know this had been asked before here --------> http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?p=1045863

So, when do you officially gain your levels? Did she win because she had already defeated the first monster? What would you guys do?

I edited the post so the link would get recognized. My advice for the future: Don't but a hyphen before http, or you won't get something that the BB parser will recognize as a link.

Since Andrew was the one cogitating on an answer, I'll let him wipe up the crumbs and answer this. However, be aware that he's at PAX East, and is busy.
