Lizard Guy Alchemist
I have recently bought the Pathfinder set and decided that I would mix it in with my Standard set which has every expansion in it. However I just went through some class and race combinations and found that a Lizard Guy who uses a "usable only once" item on a monster will count as double, while an Alchemist who uses a "usable only once" item will count double in any combat. They don't mean exactly the same thing and so they would count as different effects so I was wondering:
If a Lizard Guy Alchemist uses a +5 usable only once item on a monster does it count as a +10 or a +20? |

Re: Lizard Guy Alchemist
It's a +20. Nasty!

Re: Lizard Guy Alchemist
Really? I would have thought it was one or the other, similar to how you can't double dip for discard powers.

Re: Lizard Guy Alchemist
It's not a discard-based power. You can't double-dip on discard powers because the discard is part of the cost of the ability; here, you're just playing a card.

Re: Lizard Guy Alchemist
Strictly speaking, shouldn't the amount doubled by each ability only include the item's combat bonus, meaning that you'd have +5+5+5 = +15? In order for +20 to be the result, then the second ability applied must be doubling not only the item bonus, but also the bonus resulting from the first ability.
Edit: Ignore me, I looked at the cards again and I see why Andrew's ruling is correct. |

Re: Lizard Guy Alchemist
Incidentally, can the Overkill ability of the Russian Loyalty in Munchkin: Impossible double the effect yet again? So a +5 Magic Missile would be:
Item: +5 Lizard Guy: *2 = 10 Alchemist: *2 = 20 Russian: *2 = 40 And at what point would the Epic Alchemist ability be counted? I just want to nail this down before it comes up in a game.

So a +5 Magic Missile would be: Item: +5 Lizard Guy: *2 = 10 Alchemist: *2 = 20 Russian: *2 = 40 Last, after everything else has happened. Otherwise, you run into timing issues.
