It stays. The ability was used before the Race was lost.

It sticks around until the end of combat, unless you get help (in which case, it disappears).

If you paid a cost (in this case, the monster card) to power a Race or Class ability that provides a combat effect, then you retain that effect for the remainder of combat.

i was wondering about the gnome...

how can he summon monsters to fight for him... it seems a bit overkill... is there a limit for it?

exemple:
1- does he need a wandering monster to summon a monster to fight on his side?
2- Can the monster be of any level? if he can summon a monster level 20 easily without even a wandering monster it makes it a bit too powerfull i find..
3- can he do that every combat? even on the winning combat? or only if hes not the highest level... or something??

His Illusion power allows him to play one Monster card from his hand to help him in a combat, if he does not already have a helper.

Follow up question.

Can you put modifiers on the monster? If I have a heroic +5 to monster can I use it on the monster my gnome used as a one shot? Can the table drop -5 depressed modifiers?

No, as I stated here.
