Many of my smaller scale figures get mounted on Litko plywood bases with magnetic sheeting underneath. For storage and transport I use baking pans with snap-on plastic lids that I get at the local Dollar Store. The pans are deep enough to hold a fairly tall figure, and they are nicely protected.
