Of course they'd be dangerous - but it's not like we'd be putting Alexander on trial for what he did in, for instance, Persia. Legally speaking, the government that he fought no longer exists, for all that the Peacock Throne is still there.
And we
certainly wouldn't be putting some random courtier on trial. Although historians would be lined up around the block to talk to him...
