My family doctor is still doing family medicine for philosophical reasons, but she does Obstetrics part time at the local hospital. I don't know if in Canada that includes C-Section... but I can understand why they might get One Task Wonder training (or technique training) in C-Section in some systems - they're most likely to be on hand. In an urban environment this doesn't matter as much, but in more rural areas the family doctor is
also the Ob/Gyn because there's no hospital around for miles and miles. Or even other doctors - although there are probably RNs and midwives.
