HBTR: Based on the facts that the original question already stated that the FAQ said as much and that my answer did not refute that portion of the question, you should be able to see that the answer to your question is, "Yes, you get to keep the bonuses."
Cuchullain: The rules say that the moment you discard a Class, you lose its abilities immediately, and the moment you play a new Class, you gain its abilities, immediately. Notice the term abilities. So, the bonuses garnered by discards for berserking stay after you discard your Warrior card, and if you become a cleric, you have a new ability, but you would have to discard more cards to use it. It's not like your old discards count for your new ability.
