The issue is that wealth comes with all sorts of baggage, mostly good, that not every character fits.
I want this one super expensive item does not always mean I want lots of expensive items, social obligations, status, ability to make more money, etc.

It's not just murder hobos either. I want my character to have top of the line armor, but only be wealthy not mega-rich king.
