Well, if you like pseudo latin stuff maybe something like this:
R1: Discipulus minor
R2: Discipulus maior
R3: Adeptus minor
R4: Adeptus maior
R5: Magister minor (from this rank onwards this is a part of the persons name)
R6: Magister maior
R7: Professor minor
R8: Professor maior
R9: Praefectus
R10: Archipraefectus
