Your character is dead only until the start of the next player's turn. At that point, it returns to life and may again receive cards, level up, and even win the game.

At the start of YOUR next turn, you draw a new starting hand (four Doors, four Treasures) before Kicking Down the Door. But you are alive as soon as the next player's turn starts. Death is but a brief interlude in Munchkin.
