Backstory:
Marla Cardoso is great with dogs, she's not just naturally good at it, but her natural talents have been groomed for decades until she is fit for her post as Kennel Master to the Bar Cier.
Marla was born and raised in the Maud Marshes, where her talent was discovered at a young age, and her ability to handle dogs was encouraged by a neighborly hedge mage who could use someone around the house to clean up after him. One clear Spring day while holding her master's dogs for market, a big city merchant, named Var Poras, spotted her ease of handling the animals, and bribed her master to convince her to accompany him. Var Poras took Marla down the Maud River to the city of New Cier, and arrange to present her to the Bar Cier, who appreciating her talent, took her on staff, rewarding Var Poras appropriately.
The Bar Cier's primary hobby is breeding Bulldogs, many of which require Cesarian deliveries, Marla was a good addition to his Kennel, and over the past decades he has arranged for her to be trained to the full extent of her potential. Marla sleeps in the Kennel with the dogs, but considering it's the Royal Kennel, it's better accomodations than most.
Marla is a very content soul, as she's doing what she loves, and is appreciated for it.
