Default Re: 1/64 scale roadways and bits

You all need to BRUSH YOUR TEETH. ;)
Also, eat some Pringles.

Seriously, I just discovered one of the cheapest terrain bits you can get.
Crest Toothpaste boxes are a Near PRECISE fit for a 1/64th scale ISO Shipping Container.

ISO standard shipping containers feature heavily in the end of the A-Team Movie and almost any car chase set at a port.

90% of them are the 40ft long variety. Most of the rest are 20ft long.
All of them are 8ft wide and either 8ft 6in or 9ft 6in tall.

Crest toothpaste boxes are 1.5 inches wide by 1.75 tall by 8.5 long.
The resulting scale size is 8ft wide by 10ft tall by 45ft long.
A little modding to 7.5 inches long will get you a passable 40ft container.
45ft containers do exist, though. So an unmodded box sprayed with rust colored primer will be the perfect size for quick terrain.

Lasercraft Workshop sells a really nice set of MDF containers. They are the correct scale for the less tall ISO containers and the proper width, but their lengths are funny.
The Long ones are 4 inches, so they would be OK 21ft containers but the short ones are 2.5 inches which would be 13ft.

Pringles Cans sprayed rust primer are great rusty fuel tanks and double as storage containers for other terrain bits, like Jersey Barriers etc.
Just dump the bits in and pop the lid back on.

SCALE Conversion for this post provided by...

Which can convert between any two scales in Metric or Inch/Ft.
It will even convert an Inch/Ft size to a Metric scale size or vice versa.
