Default Re: Discussion about legal text...

I would change

[I]...content you’ve created cannot be used for commercial purposes.

to

...content you’ve created cannot be used for commercial purposes without the express permission of [SJG? Auroch? Both?]

Reason: Back when making maps for Doom was popular, someone wanted to collect a bunch of maps on one CD and sell them. There was a question as to whether that was allowed, and IIRC, ID Software said it was. Later, someone wanted to create a bunch of new maps and sell them on a CD, retaining the copyright so nobody else could. IIRC, ID Software said "only if you make every map free to copy, give away, or sell. No exclusive rights if you want to use our trademarked content and run it on our engine."

I can see a day when we have the ability to make custom maps, units, and overlays, and to use our own bitmaps. At that point someone could create a completely different game. I think the best solution is to let [SJG? Auroch? Both?] decide on a case-by-case basis what will happen in such cases.
