I didn't panic as a Game Master, but I did cause the DM to panic.

The Monday Night Gaming Group had been working our way through the Red Hand of Doom. We'd saved Brindol, defeated the Horde, and stormed the Fane of Tiamat. Thanks to some recon, some good prep, and some decent rolls, we crushed the high priest and his lackeys. We had won.

Then the planar veil ripped, and an Aspect of Tiamat stepped through.

"Oh, $#|+!" went the group.

"And we'll meet next week!" grinned the DM, evilly.

"Wait a minute," says I..."I cast Dimissal!"

The DM looked poleaxed. "You can't *do* that!"

"She's an outsider, I'm a cleric, dismissal's on my prepped list, and you need to roll a save."

Five minutes of back and forth, rules consultation, and wailing and gnashing of teeth later, the DM threw his hands in the air and said, "Fine!"

He rolled the save.

Darn Aspect of Tiamat made it by 1. I'd failed, but the DM's momentum had been broken. Next week we steamrolled the Aspect.
