One of the biggest problems we have in creating the
Car Wars universe is figuring out to handle roads. There's really no good way to maintain them in a post-apocalyptic setting. Keeping the existing highway infrastructure today is a daunting task, costing billions of dollars a year just to deal with everyday wear and tear -- to say nothing of the additional damage caused by mines, grenades, and the occasional stray bomb or cruise missile.
