Etienne Duplessis

Etienne is an older man, originally from Trois Riveres, Quebec; he still has a bit of a French accent, which becomes more pronounced if he gets upset or tired.

Etienne has the power to make things heavier. He can affect as much as half a football field, and can make everything within this area up to ten times heavier for a few seconds, or three times heavier for several minutes. 11 Gs will kill some people, and disable even more from awkward falls. 4 Gs makes it difficult to move.

When he was younger, he was the center of attention of a large well-funded research group studying his power. That money eventually dried up, but it did leave him with enough of a taste for science to pursue a degree in physics, which is what he now teaches at the high school. He also makes some money on the side doing demolition in places where explosives or heavy machinery are difficult to use.
