The point of
Munchkin is to play the game by the rules, and let the cards let you act like a munchkin. Breaking the rules of the game is not logical, it's cheating, plain and simple. So: Use the six-sider that comes with the game, since it the die that is called out in the rules as coming with and being for the game, or be labelled a cheater. Those are the options.

Yes, it's an old thread, but the intent hasn't changed, nor does the professional opinion of all those responsible for giving out Munchkin rulings that if you roll anything other than a six-sided die when not told to use something else, you're being a blatant cheater.
Obviously, if a translated version doesn't come with a die, the rules should tell you that you need to use a six-sided die.
