Re: Why short bow instead of long bow?
A few Facts:
How about the fact that the nobles did not like the fact that anyone could damage their precious/expensive to maintain and train knights.
The long bow was a late comer and required a lot of training, this means expenses, poor people need to work for a living, not spend their time training for an edge they did not need.
The "king", or whatever noble, did not allow peasants to hunt large animals, so the peasants sis not have a legitimate reason for the long bow. The CR should not be the same for Short bows and Long bows.
