This mostly just seems to be a Wordpress Theme issue. My advice would be...
- From your blog's Dashboard, go to "Appearance--> Themes and click the "Add New" button
- Scroll through the hundreds of Themes there, clicking the "Preview" button on each you find interesting to see what your blog looks like with that theme
- Pick the one you like the best and click "Install" to make that your active theme
