Obviously, the damage statistics would vary by caliber, but the rest would mostly be similar (save for the miniature versions, that use .117 and .22).

The weight is probably the biggest drawback, aside from the fact that it's a specially, high-end rifle (eg, stupid expensive).
As a sidenote, I think a very similar weapon could appear in a Steampunk campaign, although it would almost certainly use a fixed magazine.
