Of course almost none of these suggestions are actually
mathematical properties of eight.
Eight is 2^3. It's not prime (or perfect or anything else like that I can think of). In binary it is 1000. 8^2 is 16. 8^3 is 128. 8^1/2 is 2(2^1/2). It is a perfect power (specifically a perfect cube: p^3). It's the first positive integer perfect cube. It's the only perfect power that is 1 less than another perfect power (3^3-2^3=1). It's the only positive Fibonacci number (other than 1) that's a perfect cube. A cube has eight vertices. I'm not getting anything from this...
