As a general rule, you cannot force another player to leave combat by playing a card unless that card explicitly grants that ability. This card does not.

It depends on the wording. If it is "You cannot lose a level because of Traps" (and probably other things), then the rest of the Trap still happens. If it is "You are immune to Traps that cause you to lose a level," then you are immune to the entire Trap, because that's what the card says.
