It's not internet speed, but it beats a lot of communication methods.

If it's just dreaming about someone in that the character appears in scenarios your mind creates, then it's not particularly spectacular, and utilmately pointless. In fact, it's virtually impossible to discover that such a connection exists even by world jumpers. The only clue would be names and cultural cross pollination over time.
