Logrus users can Shadow-walk just fine. The second series of books features Corwin's son Merlin and members of his family from Chaos, all of whom shadow-walk the same way Amberites do.
The Black Road was a shortcut from one pole of reality to the other, made by Brand's bloody homicide attempt from within the Pattern.
