[Disliker of the mary sue]

Another annotote I heard from a friend. They were playing a space fantasy sort of game with some sort galatic princess and one guy explained the issues of space monarchy basically like this.

"Imagine you are a race of beings, you have gone through thousands of years of war, struggling with sickness, social issue, and one day you invented warp travel without killing yourselves before this. Do you think those species would accept the authority of a galtic monarchy?"
