One of the many, many reasons I'm hoping the DFRPG does well is that there's been a lot of interest in a second box for some sub-genre of space opera. GURPS has a lot of tools for outer space adventure, but somehow it hasn't developed the kind of space marines or space exploration material I'd have expected. I suspect it's because the SF space in GURPS has long been filled by the Traveller sub-line, which is gone now, and Transhuman Space, which, despite its excellence, isn't that kind of game. 4e needs its own support for starship troopers, starfleet, and interstellar smugglers.
