Actually, the Story of the Fisherman and the Djinn from "A Thousand Nights and a Night" gives djinn the power to grant wishes, should they choose to do so.

Of course, by the time the djinn in the story gets released, he's sufficiently peeved by his captivity that he merely offers his rescuer the choice of the manner of his death.
