I've got a meta-game suggestion that might help ensure the game survives, a weekly character point award. Give everyone that posts at the required interval (I vote for daily) a bonus character point each week and then possibly give out an additional bonuses for stuff like "post of the week".

This incentivizes player participation and keeps the game fresh by allowing character growth weekly like would happen in a table top game instead of having to wait possibly months in the online environment.

What do you think?

Sometimes it doesn't make sense for people to post though. See Worlds of Fire, my character is out, and hence not posting.

A mystical field over the body that drains energy from incoming attacks. Fire loses some of its heat, a bullet loses some kinetic energy ect. Finally, since it needs to be believable and work by destroying energy ignore "Effects that rely on touch (such as many magic spells) only affect you if carried by an attack that does enough damage to pierce your DR." and attacks that run on a lack of energy (cold) are unaffected.

Equipment

Back-story

As a young girl she was orphaned, she lived on the streets until she was 9, when the Church of Luna divined she had quite the talent for their magic. The first step was was increasing her intelligence via powerful alchemy; it worked leaving her much smarter although painfully sensitive to spice, light and pain, in addition to several unhealing wounds. There she spent the next ten years learning magic and the numerous other jobs the priests and priestess perform. She was recently made a full priestess and eager to see the outside of the temple has joined with an adventuring group.
Note: The magic is unconnected to their goddess. They just have a good teaching program.
Note: The Church of Luna is the standard good fantasy religion, complete with a large overarching church that hands out magic powers. The connection with the moon isn't from any official theology. But the name and the priests not liking bright light leads to things like "Blessing of the Moon".

Physical Description

Martel is a medium height, but rather slender. She has green eyes, and straight light green* hair down to her waist. She is wearing functional clothes for travelling, shades of green and white.
*Since this isn't an anime its dyed.
In fact here's a picture, but mentally add a much saner clothing choice, and the various equipment my character is carrying.
