[Thaumatology] Hermetic Realm Magic with a Threshold
I'm assembling a realm magic system that uses Hermetic astrology, sympathy, contagion and all that fun stuff to slot into a Cabal game in place of the standard spells.
And then the thought struck me: instead of using FP, why not make the magic threshold-based? That would put it on the players to manage how suffused their characters became with decanic energy, which seems appropriate to the concept of Hermetic astrology.
Perhaps I could also hybridize the calamity table with the reality-warping critical failure table. That might be more time-intensive than I can manage before the test run, though.
