I guess, you could have the spine printed, but the price would be quite prohibitive.

When I buy a PDF and have it printed out and bound I average between 175% to 75% of the price of a softcover on Amazon. The prices for the softcover versions are really high here in Germany, though. Buying a softcover doesn't make much sense unless it's GURPS Magic or something as ubiquitous (and I didn't even buy that, because full-text search for 25% percent less was still a no-brainer for that one).

I just checked out the softcover prices from warehouse23 and am quite impressed. About a third more than the PDF really is a price at which you start thinking about owning both versions.
