Making a long stick is tricky. Everything here is short and scrubby. Michael gets three or so yards out of lashing shorter branches together with vines, ties... He's not sure what a "Carrot" would like like for whatever that thing is, so he ties a few different pieces of vegetation to a stick and puts it out.

How long will he wait?

He doesn't think he could make the jump under any circumstances. 25 yards might be possible. 50 is not.
