Ever watch any of the Scooby-Doo cartoons where Scooby accidentally falls through a secret door, and Shaggy has to find the same secret door to be able to follow him, and then the others have to find the same secret door again to be able to follow Scooby and Shaggy?

It's the same deal here, I think - just because one person finds the door doesn't mean everybody else gets to know about it.

And there are plenty of real-world ways to build a door that will close and re-lock itself after somebody opens it ("spring hinges and a latch lock" comes to mind immediately), so leaving a locked door as a locked door is even more believable than leaving a secret door secret.
