Thanks for that -I'd always had the impression Norton Sound was a rather smaller ship.

Do you know if the design was based on any other ship class? It seems plausible that BuShips would have recycled a hull design if possible - they must have been very busy in 1941-42, and doing an original design for a small class seems like excessive work.
